TSGN LEARNING CENTRE

  • Water storage tanks ensure water security
  • Water tanks as a sustainable solution for water scarcity in rural communities

In South Africa, and many other countries, education, and skills are linked to access to the labor market. So people need the opportunity to get formal higher education or skills to find a sustainable job in the South African labor market even though the education system in South Africa has transformed, a multitude of people, especially those living in rural areas who don’t have access to education and skills development. This lack of access to education is because of many socio-economic issues such as; lack of access to information, poverty, lack of funding, basic needs, etc. The education gap that persists in SA prevents people from rural areas from improving the quality of their lives and essentially hinders economic progress. Even though education and knowledge only do not ensure a successful life, however basic skills of reading, writing, counting, and comprehension contribute to discovering and refining potential.

And this is why TSGN has come up with a Learning Centre as a solution to bridge the education gap, and offer education and skills development initiatives for rural communities. This initiative is aligned with the organizational strategy of TSGN to enforce development in rural communities.

This initiative is multilayered and involves several programs such as:
● Early child development Programme
● Mentorship Programme
● Computer Programme

These initiatives do not overshadow the important role that schools play in communities.
However, the aim is to make sure that the learning continues outside the schoolyard, outside the classroom. And this initiative also includes programs for adults such as computer programs, and this is to help dropouts, young adults, and adults who did not get the opportunity to get formal education to be able to learn a skill or two. The objective aim behind this is to bring good quality learning programs to their doorsteps. TSGN believes that unless the country’s wealth and opportunities are evenly shared among everyone, the nation will remain stuck, and unprogressive. Therefore, the aim is also to ensure equality in the South African labor market through education. As people learn how to operate a computer, they will learn how to write their own CVs and then they will become suitable candidates in the job market.
